July Business Meeting

Very excited to see so many members attend the July Business Meeting last night. Lots of members in attendance were concerned about our Post, and they turned out to have their voices heard. The Executive Committee and everyone in leadership thank you for your trust as we continue to tackle these hard decisions the Post has to make. I love the energy and discourse by all and can’t wait until the August meetings with you.

QR Tags

I want to thank the Sons Squadron for a small experiment they are doing. If you look closely around the Post, you might notice some QR tags. As part of our Docent program, we are experimenting with these tags. So, if you notice one, use your smartphone to learn a little more about the Post. If you have ideas or want to help with this project, please join our weekly working group meetings.

Working Group Meetings

Every Thursday evening at 6 pm, I hold working group meetings. These Zoom meetings are open to any member to join, and every member can contribute. Send me or the Adjutant an email, and we will forward you the invite. We still have Committees that are doing great work for the Post, but working meetings are my personal point of privilege because it spans across all Post committees and families.

During one of these meetings, you will find four or five members in leadership, along with representatives from all Post families. The purpose of these meetings is to gang tackle ideas and issues.

If we all focus on something together, we can accomplish anything. Many ideas like the work parties, qr tags, new member installation procedures, and many others were born and developed on this call so please consider attending.

Virtual Bar Night

Recently I traveled to Washington DC for work and remembered that one of our Post 43 members lived there. At the last minute, I contacted proud Navy Vet Carlos Gonzalez, who also runs our Post 43 Virtual Bar Night, and he was such a gracious host. After dinner, we visited General Billy Mitchell American Legion Post 85 in Arlington, Virginia, and were treated like family. On the way back to my hotel, we decided to go the Thomas Jefferson Memorial because why not? Needless to say, sitting on the steps of the memorial at 2:00 am and talking about life was probably the highlight of my trip. Thanks Carlos.

Please consider supporting Virtual Bar Night on Thursdays with Carlos Gonzalez.

30 July Workday Sunday

Need you to come to the Post on the 30 th of July @ 1000! We have a big volunteer day planned with lots of activities and need your help. We will dispose of clutter around the Post and have a volunteer work party to help clean the grounds and organize the Boiler room. Our Boiler room is used by our maintenance team to store materials to maintain the Post, and it really needs some TLC. We will also have a small rummage sale in front of the Post if you would like to bring some small items to try to sell or give away. A rummage sale was done a few years ago, and from what I hear, it was a lot of fun, so we are going to try to do it again and advertise it to the community. We will also have a membership table to tell community visitors what our organization is about.

COMMANDER’S BALL

Commander’s Ball on August 12th. This event is sure to sell out, so get your tickets now! A wonderful evening with great music, excellent food, and that dancing stuff will be had! We will also dress up a little if it is easy to do and enjoy each other’s company and recognize some of our members and community leaders.

Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do.
