Hollywood Post 43 Leadership Supports Jordan High School JROTC Awards Ceremony
Hollywood Post 43 proudly continued its commitment to supporting youth leadership, education, and military excellence by participating in the Jordan High School Bulldog Battalion 61st Annual JROTC Awards Ceremony held on May 8, 2025.
The ceremony brought together students, families, educators, veterans organizations, and community leaders to recognize the outstanding achievements of cadets who demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, citizenship, discipline, volunteerism, and military bearing throughout the school year.
Representing Hollywood Post 43 at the ceremony were Executive Committee members Mahogany Zachary and Jeff Daly, who attended on behalf of Post leadership to present awards and celebrate the accomplishments of the next generation of leaders.
The Jordan High School Bulldog Battalion ceremony featured an impressive lineup of presentations, including the Posting of the Colors, National Anthem, Cadet Creed, graduating senior recognition, principal remarks, and an extensive awards presentation honoring cadets for their achievements.
Hollywood Post 43 was also recognized among the ceremony’s official sponsors and supporting veteran organizations, standing alongside groups such as the Military Order of World Wars, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Officers Association of America, and the Purple Heart Association.
During the ceremony, the American Legion Military Achievement Award was presented to Cadet Marvin Carrera and Cadet Arlene Murrieta. This award recognizes cadets who demonstrated outstanding qualities in military leadership, discipline, character, and citizenship. The award was presented on behalf of the American Legion by Mahogany Zachary.
In addition, the American Legion Scholastic Award was presented to Cadet Michael Valenzuela for demonstrating exceptional military leadership while actively participating in student organizations, music, arts programs and sports. The award was presented by Jeff Daly on behalf of Hollywood Post 43.
The event highlighted the extraordinary work being done within the JROTC program to motivate young people to become better citizens, leaders, and contributors to their communities. Cadets were honored with dozens of awards recognizing academic achievement, volunteer service, rifle team participation, leadership excellence, recruiting efforts, community involvement, patriotism, and superior conduct.
Hollywood Post 43 remains committed to supporting youth programs, student veterans initiatives, leadership development, and educational partnerships throughout Los Angeles. Participating in events like the Jordan High School JROTC Awards Ceremony reflects the Post’s ongoing mission to invest in future generations while strengthening ties between veterans and the community.
